For a girl who’s first major break was getting killed by a garage door in Scream, Rose McGowan has done well for herself. She makes fun of her dangerously sexy image as the murderous prom queen Courtney Shayne in the new black comedy Jawbreaker. These days, she’s also sporting an impressive diamond ring after having become engaged to Satanic princeling Marilyn Manson.

Sidewalk: You just got engaged.
Rose McGowan: I answered “yes” but said, “It doesn’t have to be for a long time, right?” I’m kinda like the guy that won’t commit.

SW: Do you call him Marilyn or Brian [his real name]?
Rose: I call him Manson.

SW: Are you at all like the bitchy prom queen character you play in Jawbreaker?
Rose: I wish, ’cause life would be more fun. I have this horrible empathy thing where I can’t even go through the drive-thru at Taco Bell without going, “Oh that poor lady. She’s got her eight kids at home, they live in a bedroom and she’s getting my burrito. I’m a white capitalist pig.”

SW: Do you have any hobbies?
Rose: I was obsessed with Furbys for a while, and I finally got one and it’s so annoying. I wanted to die. My dog was very jealous of them, so she ate one’s head. My dog looks like a Furby. That was her problem, I think.

SW: What do you do during your down time?
Rose: I love that autopsy show on HBO, because I’m really into forensic science. The thing I was disappointed about was that forensic investigators have to go to live-people medical school so you can [eventually] deal with dead people. I would want to bypass the live people altogether.

SW: What was your favorite movie last year?
Rose: My favorite movie by far was Babe: Pig in the City. I cried three times. Animals in peril, it kills me. It took me six months to get through The Adventures of Milo and Otis. Every time the cat fell in the river, I was screaming.

SW: What’s your favorite type of candy?
Rose: I’d have to say Laffy Taffy. I like things that are fluorescent or brightly colored. If I was to ever get into an accident, they’ll cut open my stomach and find this strange, large wad of colored taffy and wonder “What the hell is wrong with this girl?”
