You were born in Italy, what do you remember of that period?
It was the best period of my life,really. Sadly I can’t speak the language anymore, I understand Italian, but when I try to speak Italian, it turns out to be a mix of Spanish and French.

I read that because of your childhood spent in a commune, now you hate hippies.
It’s true, for what concerns the lifestyle. But till I was in your country I was happy. Then a complicated period began.

Why?
When i was 13 i was sent in a drug rehab clinic. I was very young, i wore strange clothes, i used to listen to alternative music, but i wasn’t on drugs,i just think my mother’s husband didn’t like me and so he didn’t want me around.

Is it true that you got your first tattoo at that age?
Yes, i was 12 and i was very dumb. I got a pin-up that was the same my grandad had on a World War airplane. Now i am trying to remove it,it is very expensive and painful. See,it has became a kind of blue spot (she shows me her shoulder)

So how long have you been to the hospital?
Not long, i escaped very early. I didn’t want to go back home, so I began going to every Oregon gay club.

How did you earn money?
I became friend with some drag queens and i was always with them. I performed for a little while wearing a Charlot costume, i dressed like a man.

Why were you always in gay clubs?
It allowed me to remain virgin for a long time, i am serious.

And how did you end up being an actress?
I moved to Los Angeles. I never wanted to be an actress. i accepted to star in The Doom Generation, because i had to pay the rent, i didn’t want to go back to live with my dad. When i ended shooting the movie, i starred in movies every time i needed it: for years i have had an unstable career.

The meeting with Robert Rodriguez was fundamental
He is a genius. But i don’t want to talk about it, just not to increase the gossip about us.

Ok, let’s talk about Black Oasis, what do you think about Susan Cabot character?
It’s a dramatic story and charming at the same time. She was a woman who starred just in very very strange movies.

A bit like you?
Yes, but at the end she didn’t understand the difference between reality and fiction. I know it really well.
