Talking about the “dress” she wore at the 1998 MTV Music Awards:
“What was going on in my mind in that memorable day? Nothing special. I usually tend to do things that in that moment seem incredibly funny, but then… That stupid dress had to be good for a laugh, that’s why I wore it only on the red carpet and then I changed for the party. But I didn’t think about the Internet. In a second everyone knew how I was dressed.”

About Florence:
“It’s weird, but even today when I go back to Italy I feel I am home. Those are my roots, even though my Italian is definitely not good now.”

About going to America:
“When I arrived in America I felt a stranger. I wasn’t happy and everyone saw me as a rebel. I hated American food. Once I was having dinner with my mother and her friend, at Denny’s, I ordered very excited some pasta. But when they gave me that ‘thing’ I was disgusted: I wanted to puke! I didn’t just hate American food. The too strong lights too, people talking so loudly and – most of all – everyone who wanted to teach me what to do and what not to do.”

About shooting Charmed and Grindhouse:
“It was a touch period. For two months I have been working in Los Angeles in the morning on the set of Charmed and in the night in Texas on the set of Planet Terror. Two completely different roles and two different ways of working. Friends and colleagues were worried because they saw me very tired and always thinner. But when Charmed finished I understood that, that crew was the only true family I had ever had. It never happened to me to share joy, pain, lunches and work with some people for so many years.”

About fashion:
“I like to borrow dresses from the stylists, but shoes and bag are always mine! I buy 90% of my clothes online. I go crazy for megastore websites such as Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman and I buy a lot also on eBay. I’m very particular for what regards the ‘vintage’, I choose evening outfits, jackets, skirts, but just the ones that makes me think that haven’t been never worn. I am obsessed by cleaning and germs. Sometimes I forget something in the wardrobe and I find it after years: I just found some boots I bought in the 80′s and my friends envy me for those. I would describe my style as “high end/low end”, a mix: one day you’ll see me dressed like a true lady, with cashmere, and next day I’ll be casual.”

About movies:
“It’s such an honor; my favorite man would be a mix of Robert Mitchum and Cary Grant. If I could do a remake of a movie I would choose Giovanna d’Arco al rogo (1954), released in 1954, by Rossellini with Ingrid Bergman. Lately I went seeing the remake of 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe and I have to admit that’s much better than the original. I was frustrated though because I thought that there aren’t roles like Crowe’s written for a woman. It’s not that I dream to be a man, but there’s a male part in me that leads me to do 90% of my stunts in my movies.

In Los Angeles my favorite hobby is putting on a big pair of protective glasses and use my power drill to do some work in my house. Lately I bought on eBay an old car called Nissan Figaro, but I have to fix it completely because it’s not even homologable (?) in the United States and I just found out I have the instructions in Japanese, but it doesn’t let me down. Be sure: sooner or later I will fix that car.”
